Since the devastating 7.0 earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010, Internews has been working on the ground with local Haitian media and humanitarian aid agencies to get critical information directly to the people who need it most.
Accurate and timely information is essential to rebuilding Afghanistan during a period of political transition. Internews has been working in Afghanistan since 2002, training journalists and establishing radio stations to support good governance and transparency.
The Voices in Health program was launched in Kenya in 2003; a time when around 700 people were dying as a result of HIV complications every day. Since then hundreds of journalists have been trained to write responsibly about HIV/AIDS issues, with a particular focus on making the science accessible whilst dispelling myths and preventing stigma.
