From the Kenya Burning photos which documented the carnage of Kenya's Post Election Violence (PEV), to his work with Picha Mtaani and Pawa 254, the MPigs protests and now his work with Team Courage, Boniface Mwagani has been a loud voice of conscience for the Kenyan body politic. His activism is courageous and represents our generations' boldest attempts to reconstruct an alternative vision for Kenya's democratic future.
Mwangi has won international acclaim for his work, named a TED fellow, twice a CNN Africa Journalist of the year, and the youngest Prince Claus Laureate. New African Magazine named him one of the 100 Most Influential Africans of 2014 and Time magazine recognized him as a Next Generation Leader in 2015. His work has appeared in leading newspapers in the world — from The New York Times to The Guardian and Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, The International Herald Tribune, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph and The Boston Globe among others.
His recent book, Unbounded, is a collection of engaging personal stories that takes us through some of the people, places and events that have shaped the activist. From a childhood on Nairobi's tough streets to the heights of international fame, he talks about what keeps him grounded in his pursuit of justice.
