Journalism during the Covid-19 pandemic - the experience for female journalists

Friday, May 15, 2020 - 4:00pm to 5:00pm
Online

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed every sector of life, including media. Women in media have been exposed to a number of challenges. In East Africa, a number of women-owned and women-led media houses are operational, mostly online. Online work is more secure from the point of view of reducing the spread of the virus. But it can also present challenges.

Working from home is the new norm at the moment. Staying at home for a woman often comes with expectations for them to carry out house chores such as cooking, gardening, child care and even the care of their partners.

You’re kindly invited to this webinar for women journalists and media managers/owners – a discussion about how they have planned their work-life balance, from home. What challenges have they faced? How can these be overcome? What lessons can be shared to take forward?

Time: May 15, 2020 4:00 – 5:00 PM Central African Time  (GMT+2)

  • Facilitator: Elizabeth Merab, Senior Health Journalist, Nation Media Group
  • Q&A: Elizabeth Merab and Tole Nyatta, Internews Pandemic Mentor.
