Tuesday, May 5, 2020 - 3:30pm to 5:30pm
Online

May 5, 2020 @ 3:30PM-5:30PM MYT (UTC +8)

In conjunction with the World Press Freedom Day 2020 and in partnership with the European Union, Internews in Malaysia with the collaboration of the National Union of Journalists will conduct a webinar on the ongoing media coverage surrounding COVID-19, with a lens on humanitarian and community-related impacts.

Ida Jooste, Internews Global Health Advisor, will be one of the speakers.

Due to a rapidly evolving situation on this public health crisis, media practitioners including those in Malaysia have a role to play in providing coverage that is relevant, accurate and informative.

Malaysian journalists are also facing additional challenges during this time in terms of combating the spread of rumours, disinformation and responding to the ‘infodemic’.

The webinar aims to give practical tips, guides and resources by humanitarian experts and local level journalists to adequately report on how this pandemic will impact their communities.
