“Information that helps refugees protect themselves is vital”

(Daniel Bruce, Internews Europe CEO, speaks about communicating to refugees in this podcast from CDAC.)

Information saves lives. But getting the right message at the right time to hundreds of thousands of people making perilous journeys in many countries is an enormous challenge that still has not been fully addressed by humanitarian agencies.

Daniel Bruce, the Chief Executive of Internews in Europe, was speaking as the UN hosts a special session to focus on an estimated 65 million people displaced from their homes by conflict and insecurity. He says that while there are pockets of engagement which have helped people better protect themselves, there needs to be a systemic stepping up within humanitarian response. He spoke to Martin Dawes of the CDAC Network about why world leaders in New York need to focus on communication. (Listen to the podcast)
