In the summer of 2017, four graduate students from American University (AU) worked on a pro bono “Capstone” research project that was coordinated with Internews.
The research project was overseen by AU faculty, supported by volunteer students as part of their program of study. The selection of the students and their roles and activities in the research was solely determined by AU faculty. The research was focused in the US and did not concern international work.
Only publicly available materials were made available for this research. At no time were the students employed by Internews, nor were they authorized to speak on behalf of the organization, nor were they provided access to the organization’s work, systems, programs or files.
Internews is cooperating with authorities investigating this matter.
