Do you have cross-cultural stories from around Sri Lanka? Are you a journalist? Then this grant is for you!
Internews is looking for storytellers who are passionate about talking about cross-cultural stories with fresh perspectives. Stories that amplify the voices of marginalized and underrepresented communities: women, youth, religious and ethnic minorities, sexual minorities, and differently-abled persons from across the island. Stories told from these communities’ point of view which is rarely heard in media.
We are looking for stories that fall within the following themes:
- Impact of the economic/political crisis on women and other minority groups, and
- Peaceful pluralism, religious and ethnic diversity.
Who is eligible?
Anyone who would like to report stories, from any background: mainstream media, alternative media, media startups.

Do you want to tell stories with just your smartphone?
Be it breaking news, investigative journalism, feature stories, documentaries or any creative content, mobile journalism (MoJo) will empower you to create and share with just your smartphone.
We are offering a 4-day workshop on MoJo, in both Sinhala and Tamil, followed by a grant program. Participants will be covering stories within the following themes:
1. Impact of the economic/political crisis on women and other minority groups
2. Peaceful pluralism, religious and ethnic diversity.
Who is eligible?
Women – journalists, activists, amateur content producers, social media influencers and anyone with a passion for telling stories.
