Internews and its partners launched Infuse, a resource providing pathways for digital protectors (digital security trainers, technologists, auditors, etc.) to advance their knowledge and skill sets in areas of specialized technical expertise (STE). Infuse incorporates a decentralized peer verification framework that complements a structured learning path and badge credentialing scheme. The peer verification framework aims to provide a way for digital protectors to be verified and vouched for such that others can be sure that the support they offer to at-risk communities is effective.
To inform the design of Infuse and its skill verification system, Internews conducted research into the role of peer verification systems in digital protector spaces. This report summarizes the findings from that research process and focuses on upskilling and verification programs, particularly those used in digital protector spaces, and captures challenges, models, best-practices, and lessons learned around maintaining a long-term and sustainable skill verification program.
