Turn The Mic Around: Brazil Elections: A Test for Democracy

When:
10/27/2022
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT

The world is just days away from Brazil’s run off election on October 30, between Jair Bolsonaro, a right-wing populist who has been president since 2019, and Luiz Inácio “Lula” da Silva, who left office as “the most hated and loved man in Brazil.”

In this month’s Turn the Mic Around conversation, Internews’ President Jeanne Bourgault is joined by Paulo Mota to discuss this test for Brazilian democracy and the challenges in keeping the election transparent, credible, and free of disinformation. Paulo Mota is an election analyst and data scientist for data_labe, a data and narrative laboratory in Rio de Janeiro.
