Pakhshan Kakawais Bibani is Internews Country Director in Iraq. She brings more than 20 years of experience working with the United Nations, INGOs and local NGOs covering different fields and sectors, including but not limited to media, gender, coordination during emergencies, designing and managing projects, and direct engagement with communities at the grassroot and decision making levels.

She has managed and designed programs in partnership with government institutions, local NGOs, local communities and international actors. Pakhshan is a journalist and previously published articles in local media outlets related to women and children’s rights. She established the Internews office in Iraq, registering it with the Kurdistan Regional Government, hired the local team and launched the program Womens Voices (Aswat al-Maraa).
