B-cells

White blood cells or lymphocytes that mature in the bone marrow (hence B-cells) before being released into the bloodstream where they form part of the body’s immune system response to pathogens and other foreign invaders.

They play a central role in the adaptive immune response in that they produce antibodies that are involved in fighting off infection by destroying invading pathogens and other substances.
