COVID-19: Using data to understand the secondary impacts

When:
10/08/2020
9:00 am - 10:00 am UTC

The economic fallout of COVID-19 is exposing the deepest flaws, fractures, and inequities within our health care and social service systems. Brave and bold action is needed by those in power to tackle these emerging secondary threats of COVID-19. Leaders must ensure no one is left behind as they struggle to deal with the pandemic and the resulting economic and social impacts.

Datasets to provide information that enables decision makers to better direct their efforts in addressing the wider secondary impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have been developed. It is crucial that journalists understand and use this data in stories and offer a check and balance to the work of governments, businesses and institutions responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Join us for a webinar on COVID-19: Using data to understand the secondary impacts on Thursday 8 October 2020 at 9:00 GMT with:

  • Claudia Manili, Mixed Methods Analyst at ACAPS
  • Eva Constantaras, Data Journalism Advisor at Internews

As part of the Mentors’ Bench, Eva presented opportunities for journalists to use secondary COVID-19 impacts data collected by ACAPS to tell stories of inequality including about access to economic opportunities, education, food and nutrition, human rights, and security around the world.
