EJN and its West Africa Fisheries Project have been honored with a Special Recognition award by an international panel of judges in the context of the 3rd Stop IUU Fishing Awards to acknowledge the “unique role journalists and the media can play in combatting IUU fishing and associated activities,” issues the West Africa Fisheries Project has been training journalists to understand and expose. CCMP Fellow’s Reporting on Vulnerable Sea Turtles in India Continues to Garner Attention 

Freelance journalist Karthikeyan Hemalatha, who served as a Fellow with the 2018 Climate Change Media Partnership supported by EJN, published a story in The Times of India that drew attention from the state government and justice system in eastern India and raised awareness about the impact of fishing on the vulnerable Olive Ridley turtle population.
