Asad Jan is Internews’ Regional Program Manager for MENA based in London. With extensive experience spanning two decades in journalism and media development, his career has been dedicated to strengthening media infrastructure, advocating for journalist safety, and implementing programs for democratic empowerment.

Asad was previously the Country Director for Internews Pakistan and for Search for Common Ground in Pakistan, Malaysia, and Indonesia. He also served as a Technical Program Advisor for Internews in Asia. Additionally, Asad has played crucial roles with renowned international development organizations such as IRC, IFJ, UN-FAO, and Equal Access International throughout his career. He has led multimillion-dollar projects funded by prominent entities like USAID, OTI, DRL, FCDO, DANIDA, SIDA, the EU, and UNESCO in conflict-affected regions and international territories, demonstrating his program implementation and advocacy expertise. Asad holds a master’s degree in journalism and mass communication and is a proud fellow of Washington State University, National Geographic, Radio Netherland Training Center, and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in the field of Journalism. Asad is proficient in English, Urdu, Hindi, and Pashto, with additional language skills in Arabic, Kurdish, Punjabi, Persian, and Dari.
