Dunya Mirdan is Internews’ Project Director in Iraq, working on a program that focuses on women’s participation in media. She has over 15 years  experience working with national and international NGOs on women’s empowerment, gender equality, and children’s programming; as well as seven years of media experience in programming and consultancy.

Previously, Mirdan worked with Heartland Alliance International (HAI) on their Protect and Defend Project, Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) as a program manager, and Un Ponte Per (UPP).

She has a Master’s Degree in Sociology and Social Policy from the University of UKH Iraq, and holds two Bachelor Degrees in Education, Psychology and English Literature, both from Salahaddin University in Iraq. Mirdan also worked with the University of Bergen Institute for Social Anthropology as a research assistant on a Norwegian Research Council project and with Boston University in the USA on a virtual program for youth entitled United Planet.
