Sam de Silva is Internews’ Innovation Advisor for Asia. He has managed projects ranging from citizen reporting via SMS in Indonesia to digital safety for media and civil society. He has a technical sensibility, and has experience designing ICT solutions and managing their implementation. He previously served as a project director for Internews Europe in Sri Lanka and has focused his career on the intersections of digital technologies, communications and cultural and social issues.

Prior to joining Internews, he worked on a number of independent media projects including producing documentaries, contributing to running a progressive projects incubator, and publishing a youth magazine covering culture, technology, art and politics. He also designed and lectured the net communications course at Melbourne University. de Silva is based in Melbourne, Australia
