Alex Cole is the Vice President of External Affairs at Internews, overseeing communications, advocacy, and individual fundraising. A brand strategist, marketing and development specialist, spokesperson, and campaign counselor, Alex has advised major foundations, Fortune 500 companies, national and international advocacy organizations, and elected leaders.
Most recently, he led communications and advocacy for IREX, a global development and education nonprofit. Previously, as a Principal at Monitor 360 and a Vice President at Hattaway Communications, Alex led business development and service delivery for the philanthropic, nonprofit, and political portfolios. He has conducted large-scale advocacy, branding, fundraising, social media, and thought leadership initiatives for organizations such as the Ford Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, CARE, Acumen Fund, National Democratic Institute, and the Human Rights Campaign. He has served on the staff of or as a consultant to more than a dozen candidates for the U.S. House, Senate, and Presidency.
He holds a BA from Vassar College and a Master of Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Alex is currently an adjunct faculty member at Georgetown University in the Integrated Marketing and Communications Master’s Degree Program.
