In May 2019, Google News Initiative India launched its monthly FactWatch newsletter. The newsletter is a coordinated effort between Internews and Data Leads to share important development in the fact-checking ecosystem with trainers. Each newsletter includes key stories of the month, expert analyses, a round-up of monthly trainings done by the Network, new tools and tricks and recent examples of fact-checking that trainers can include in their workshops.
The Google News Initiative India Training Network was launched in June 2018 in partnership with Internews, DataLeads, and BoomLive. The network aims to support journalists from across India in their fight against misinformation, providing in-depth and hands-on verification training to 8000 journalists across English and six other Indian languages. The training equips them with best-in-class skills required to debunk fake news.
