Forehead thermometer

Also called a non-contact thermometer or a temporal artery thermometer, it is a medical device that uses infrared radiation to detect the temperature in one of the arteries in the forehead.

They are widely used in airports, offices and shopping centres during epidemics, and have been used for screening for COVID-19. Forehead thermometers are less reliable than invasive thermometers, even when used accurately. Rectal thermometers are considered the gold standard for temperature detection.
