PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

Special clothing and equipment that ensures a physical barrier between an individual and a hazard. They refer to a wide range of coverings from hazmat suits, to gloves, boots, face shields/visors, face masks, and goggles.
 

PPEs are used by frontline health workers to protect themselves from exposure to the SARS-CoV-2 virus while treating and caring for patients with COVID-19,  Health workers run the risk of heat stress, slips and trips, stress, and impaired vision while caring for patients all day in a PPE suit. In the early stages of the pandemic, countries faced a shortage of PPE, and health workers had to use other ways to protect themselves including bin bags and plastic aprons.
