Rooted in Trust (RiT) is a USAID Bureau of Humanitarian Affairs (BHA)-funded project run by Internews to support humanitarian and public health agencies combat and manage the spread of rumours and misinformation about COVID- 19.

In Lebanon, Internews collects, analyzes and identifies risks and misinformation around COVID-19 to support journalists and humanitarians communicate more effectively about the virus. The project aims to understand the information environment in which rumors thrive and to ensure community questions and concerns drive communication efforts.

Internews collaborates with Maharat Foundation, a Lebanese NGO promoting quality journalism and free speech, to collect rumor data and support journalists to report on COVID-19 and the misinformation surrounding the virus. Communities at heightened risk of being exposed or impacted by harmful rumors will be targeted for this project, namely migrant and refugee communities living in both urban and rural parts of the country.

في لبنان، ستقوم Internews بجمع و تحليل و تحديد المخاطر و المعلومات الخاطئة حول 19-COVID لدعم الصحافيين و العاملين في المجال الإنساني للتواصل بشكل أكثر فعالية. يهدف المشروع إلى فهم محيط المعلومات التي تزدهر فيه الشائعات و لضمان أن تدفع أسئلة و اهتمامات المجتمع جهود الاتصال. سوف تتعاون Internews مع مؤسسة مهارات، وهي منظمة لبنانية غير حكومية تركز على تعزيز جودة الصحافة وحرية التعبير، لجمع بيانات الشائعات و دعم الصحافيين للتقرير عن 19-COVID والمعلومات المضللة المحيطة بالفيروس. خلال المشروع، سيتم استهداف المجتمعات المعرضة لخطر متزايد و المتأثرة بالشائعات الضارة، بالتحديد مجتمعات المهاجرين و اللاجئين الذين يعيشون في كل من المناطق الحضرية و الريفية
